My first month in Hemsedal | Life update

Hey guys! wow, I can’t believe that I have been here for over a week already. Haha, scratch that. I got halfway through this post, then life happened and now I have been here for over a month. WOW. I thought it could be fun to just let you know what’s been going on so far! I arrived Thursday the 14th of November, after spending close to 12 hours in transit from Eskilstuna, Sweden. It took me 2 trains and 2 buses to get to Hemsedal and I find it absurd how traveling between Sweden and Norway takes longer, and usually is more complicated, than traveling to most other European countries.. (at least with public transport) On my way through Sweden the grey, wet & gloomy landscape slowly turned into a white magical winter wonderland that I am happy to call my home for the next 5-6 months.

On the premiere day I didn’t start till 5PM that day so me and a couple of friends hit the slopes as soon as the lifts opened! It’s been years since I last skied so I was a little nervous at first and worried I had forgotten everything, but after going down a few times I regained the confidence in myself and it felt really nice to be outside in the fresh air. But of course, no ski premiere without a few bruises am I right? I fell a few times, as you do, but one of these times I accidentally (somehow) kneed myself .. haha, Yogi problems am I right? My knee ached a little for a couple of days and I had a pretty little bruise on my nose as evidence of the incident, but hey, it does make for a funny story! Since that day I have skied at every possible chance (when I’m not working & the visibility isn’t shit) and today I even managed a baby jump in the snowpark. Proud moment! Slowly but surely improving these skiing skills. If you want to follow along with me on my skiing journey you should follow @Apieceofmypie on Instagram if you aren’t already. I am a lot more active over there, especially on MyStories!

LIFE UPDATE

MY FIRST MONTH IN HEMSEDAL, Norway

The past month have consisted of so many new impressions, new people to get to know, a new restaurant & a Cafe to make myself familiar with.. and yeah, lots and lots of skiing! It Feels so good to be making drinks and barista coffee again and I’m even baking things here! Life goals. There is something magical about pouring a really nice latte.. haha. I am very content and happy with how everything has turned out, even if things didn’t work out as I originally planned. Life has a way of placing you exactly where you are suppose to be if you just stop resisting and have a little faith. I like the job, the house they put me in, the people surrounding me and the little village I live in, it is the perfect size for this Island lover. Not to big, nor too small. I have a feeling that this is gonna be a good season! Now there isn’t much more to update you on as most of it would be super boring to read about haha, But stay tuned for more interesting content.

That was everything for now, and until next time, take care! xo Nathalie
