The Best scones in London!
Sick of expensive overpriced afternoon tea and are looking for a more budget friendly option? Then this post was made for you!
I was in the middle of baking scones this morning when I came to think about my hunt for cheap, delicious scones for a traditional afternoon tea experience in London last year and it bothered me how hard it was to find a place that didn’t charge a fortune, eventually, I found this amazing little spot that had everything I picture when someone says ‘‘afternoon tea in London’’ for a very cheap price! Freshly baked scones, and tea that come with an adorable porcelain set with an antique old vibe and cute granny-like furniture. Perhaps it’s just me, but if this is what appears in your mind as well when you hear the word afternoon tea, you’re in for a treat! Today I want to share this location with you!
If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea experience, but you don’t want to pay a minimum of 30£ per person, or feel like eating your entire weight in Cakes, mini sandwiches, and other savory treats I noticed that it can be quite difficult to find a nice place that offers you exactly what you’re after. All the places we looked up seemed very over the top - I just wanted scones & tea, not an entire (overpriced) meal.. is that too much to ask?
I looked up multiple places and as an Alice in Wonderland fan, there was one place that caught my eye straight away. The ‘‘Mat hatters tea party’’ at SBE, but paying 45£ per person seemed a bit pricey. I would lie if I said I wasn’t tempted tho, because how cool wouldn’t a mad hatter tea party be?? Maybe next time, hehe... Just as I was about to give up on finding a place that matched my demands I FOUND IT!

THE ENGLISH ROSE CAFE & TEA SHOP
Even the name screams tea time doesn’t it? They serve so much good stuff in there, but best of all - They have traditional afternoon tea (until 4.30PM) and you can choose how small or big you want it to be by adding more to your plate by the counter as you order. You can also buy their ‘‘Traditional afternoon tea for two’’ where you will get the tiered cake stand and all that’s included for only 15£ per person, that means it’s still half the price of any other place I looked up - how good?! Because it took me so long to find this place, we only had about an hour before we had to be at dinner with my family, but I was only after the scones anyway so I’d still call that a WIN!
Adress: 4 Lower Grosvenor Place, London SW1W 0EJ
It is located close to the famous tourist attraction Buckingham Palace, which makes this the perfect stop for a break after a day of sightseeing in the city! Because of its location I was surprised, and happy, to find it wasn’t overly crowded as most places this close to the city center can be. On the other hand, I wasn’t very surprised when I read that they have received a Tripadvisor certificate of excellence for 5 years in a row now!! Hope this makes your quest for finding a nice cafe in London a little easier and please let me know what you think of the place if you do end up going! That was everything for now, and until next time, take care! xo Nathalie
